Project Overview

MENTOR NY believes in you as an emerging civic leader capable of shaping the philanthropic priorities of tomorrow. We also believe in and understand the power of investing in human capital. MENTOR New York designed a Civic Leaders Program for members of the Young Professional Advisory Board(YPAB) to increase their learning and development in the philanthropic space.

 YPAB members will:

  • Receive a Civic Mentor from MENTOR NY's Board of Directors

  • Grow their networks and build social capital

  • Develop their fundraising and philanthropic skills

  • Support and grow the Mentoring Movement across New York

Sip and Learn Workshop Series

MENTOR New York staff hosted a social workshop series focused on providing information, strategies, and tools about nonprofit board service, mission-focused advocacy, storytelling, and peer fundraising strategies. During the interactive sessions, there was time to reflect, discuss, ideate with their cohort members, and have fun.

MENTOR of the Year Awards Reception

Mentor New York and the Young Professional Advisory Board planned and hosted the annual MENTOR of the Year Awards on September 21, 2022. The YPAB civic leaders and seasoned members procure donated silent auction items and sponsorships from companies and lead a peer-to-peer fundraising campaign to sell tickets and request donations. The YPAB civic leaders also help select the MENTOR of the Year Honorees. This selection process allows each member to understand the impact mentors have and the diversity of the programs and models in the movement.
